SUMMER'S BACK!!

Song For the Moment

Song: Not Ready to Make Nice
Artist: The Dixe Chicks
Album: The Long Way

Wow! Summer is SO MUCH BETTER than any other season. Granted, summer tends to get an extra push of positive energy because of the lack-of-school factor, but despite that, I think summer totally has it over any other season.

Since graduating, I have done the following:

-Replaced doing homework til the wee hours of the morning with:
a) Going out (like, OUTSIDE!!)
b) Reading (like, BOOKS!!)
c) Sleeping (like, for more than four hours a night!!)

-Replaced stressing out over stories, essays and oral presentations with:
a) Knitting (so zen)
b) Watching the tube (so lazy)

-Replaced paying $5000 a year for profs to torture me for eight months with:
a) Working (yea, they give ME money now. SO much better)
b) Going to cottages, concerts and saving for a trip to Kiwi-land

And my FAVOURITE thing about life right now is that Lauren and I have started writing again! And nothing to do with those pesky “facts” that journalists have to deal with. Using that long-forgotten, under-used, neglected to the point of possible legal action, imagination!!

Weehee!! I heart summer :D.

Let me tell you a story

This is a story about a hockey team. In many respects, a good hockey team. They have heart, drive, skill, everything it takes to be a truly great part of the NHL.

So good was this team, in fact, that by the end of the 2005-06 regular season, they were in first place in the Eastern conference. Two of the team’s top players were tied for fourth place as the highest point-scorers in the league. They also had players place fourth for most goals in the regular season, second for most assists, three players in the top six for most consecutive goals in a season, and had a rookie goalie break a league record by winning the first nine games of his NHL career.

But the moral of this story is this: see all that? Apparently, that means FUCK-ALL.

You put your heart behind a team and year after year they break it.

2006: Defeated Tampa Bay, 4-1, Eastern Conf. quarterfinals
lost to Buffalo, 4-1, Eastern Conf. semifinals

2004: Lost to Toronto, 4-3, Eastern Conf. quarterfinals

2003: Defeated NY Islanders, 4-1, Eastern Conf. quarterfinals
defeated Philadelphia, 4-2, Eastern Conf. semifinals
lost to New Jersey, 4-3, Eastern Conf. finals

2002: Defeated Philadelphia, 4-1, Eastern Conf. quarterfinals
lost to Toronto, 4-3, Eastern Conf. semifinals

2001: Lost to Toronto, 4-0, Eastern Conf. quarterfinals

2000: Lost to Toronto, 4-2, Eastern Conf. quarterfinals

1999: Lost to Buffalo, 4-0, Eastern Conf. quarterfinals

1998: Defeated New Jersey, 4-2, Eastern Conf. quarterfinals
lost to Washington, 4-1, Eastern Conf. semifinals

1997: Lost to Buffalo, 4-3, Eastern Conf. quarterfinals

HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN??

Changes, Mr. Mukler, we need some changes.

Ponderings

Have you ever noticed that no matter how hard you try to be a well-rounded, multi-dimensional, even complex human being, you inevitably just get lumped into one social category or another? I’ve discovered that to the vast majority of my friends I’m most likely no more than a stereotype. I’m the funny one, the party animal, the smart girl, the door mat.

I think there’s probably only about three people (not including family members) that see me as just Megan, and not Megan-the-insert-stereotype-here.

And just when you start to feel sorry for me, keep in mind your friends are all doing exactly the same thing to you.

What’s up with that?
