Canadian Politics in a nutshell
Friends, Stephen Harper is an asshole.
Fundamentally, Paul Martin is screwed.
There is a third option, but it's the goddman NDP.
Come Monday, choose to fuck up your Canada.
@ Global
I have been listening to Paul Martin, Stephen Harper and Jack Layton ramble on in auditoriums, airport tarmacs and parking lots for the last SIX HOURS.
My favourite quote of the night?
Jack Layton:
Paul Martin said that I have taken a pass, as he put it, on defending issues like justice for First Nations and Metis people and on protecting the environment, and on ensuring that everyone in Canada is treated equally. Well you know, that's just silly!
Way to go Jack-O... Niiiiice come back.
Yes, I am alive.
Howdy-ho.
I'm back. And in case you were eagerly anticipating a hugely long rant about where I've been and what I've been doing for the past couple of weeks that would leave this large a gap between posts, put down the bowl of popcorn and for god's sake get off the edge of your seat (it's bad for your posture).
I just haven't been around is all. I go to school, I go to work, I come home, I do homework, and when I'm not doing any of that, I go out and party it up with my fellow j-schoolers. That's pretty much it. Last weekend was all family-like, with my mom's bday on Friday and us going out for dinner on Saturday night for my grandma's 80th bday tomorrow. Still managed to make it to trucker-breafast at Lee and Kelly's on Sat. morning; an unnatural amount of greasy food that sits like a tonne of bricks in the very pit of your stomach...niiiice. Last weekend I was over at Lee and Kel's too, doing girls night with bad movies, card games and copious amounts of wine. This weekend is drunk lazor-quest at St. Laurent and Rebecca's birthday-extravaganza.
School's going ok. I'm dropping my Monday night class because I forgot my professor was a bitch (I was promptly reminded when she yelled at my partner Lindsey for going for a smoke a whole FIFTEEN minutes before we were supposed to do our oral presentation. Apparently we were supposed to be jumping up and down in anticipation? Hell if I know...). Anyway, I'm now taking a Tuesday afternoon class. Still mass com but not taught by an overly-education Barbie doll with a stick up her ass the size of a 300 year old oak tree. But I'm not bitter.
What else is new? I'm working nights until next week at Global TV downtown, shot-listing election footage. It's not the most stimulating work, but it pays well and it's in my field. At least I get to put Global TV on my C.V. which looks kinda cool.
Oh, and my computer's busted. I think it's the fan because my computer isn't sounding as noisey as usual and it shuts down after being on for ten minutes due to over-heating. I'm using the upstairs computer for now, but it tends to not like the multi-tasking. Internet AND word processing? Well that's just asking too much.
So yea, that's pretty much me these days. Nothing particularly exciting.
Just me.
I knew this thing would come back and bite me in the ass!!
The thing about keeping a record about all the crap you've said in the past is that you have a RECORD of all the CRAP you've said in the PAST.
I decided to take full advantage of my last days off before heading back to school, and looked through old blog entries in my pyjamas for two hours this afternoon (I've since showered. It's been a productive day). Anyhoo, I came across my list of new years resolutions from last year...lets see how I shaped up, shall we?
The Resolutions for 2005:
- Make exercise part of my daily routine (10-k in May hun?? Ooooookay...).
Ok, this one I actually DID...for a while at least. I trained almost every day and ran two 5Ks over the summer. Heh...then fourth year started.
- Decide what I want to do after 4th-year (masters degree or no masters degree...THAT is the question!)
I've made progress on this one. I've applied to a masters programme, but I still don't know whether I'm going or not. I have a Plan B if I don't get in though, so we'll count this one completed. Sweet!
- Make a concerted effort to meet more people in my field and new people in general.
Definitely did this one. I partied more with j-schoolers this year than I have the previous three years combined. - Find a summer job where I will actually be happy (preferably one that also pays really well, but at this point the happiness factor is more important).
This one is another one that got half-done. I liked my job this past summer more than any of the gov't jobs I had previous, but if I'd been offered the position full-time I probably wouldn't have taken it. Still haven't found something stimulating enough...- Bring some form of music back into my life, whether it be vocal or instrumental.
Umm...the short answer is No.- Learn a new sport.
Long distance drinking? - Write poetry.
0 for 3 people.- Read at least 5 books outside of school.
Woohoo! I kicked this one's ASS!!! I read EIGHT (count 'em!) books over the summer, and another three over the holidays. YES!
Ok so the grand total iiiiiiis: 4/8
50%...THAT'S A PASS!!!! (Woah...11th grade math flash-back).
