This week in review:
Monday: class (9-11:30), wait six hours for Internet to work so that I can write mass com essay. Stay up until 3:00 a.m. to finish essay.
Tuesday: Wake up at 6:30, skip class because of migrane, write Online News article, work on formatting at school until about 8:00 p.m., go home, die
Wednesday: day off (yea..right) spend all day trying to fix crappy-ass story written on Tuesday during Tylenol-endused haze.
Thursday: skip class because of extended story crappiness, work on it all day at school, give up, go home, get another migrane, die.
Friday: Online News production day. Pull fairly decent story out of my ass, write this post while waiting for editors to tear story apart and make me cry.
Tonight: going home to drink a bottle of wine and watch movies with my kitty. Don't call, I won't answer.
What a superbly shitty week.
The Mermaid
When I was a lad in a fishin’ town, me old man said to me,
you can spend your life, your jolly life, just sailin’ on the sea,
You can search the world for pretty girls til your eyes are weak and dim,
but don’t go searchin’ for a mermaid son, if you don’t know how to swim!
‘Cuz her hair was green as seaweed,
her skin was blue and pale,
her face it was a work of art, I loved that girl with all my heart!
But I only liked the upper part,
I did not like the tail.
I climbed onto a sialin’ ship, my very first day at sea,
I seen the mermaid in the waves there reachin’ out to me,
“Come live with me in the sea” said she, “down on the ocean floor,
and I’ll show you a million wonderous things that you’ve never seen before!”
So over I jumped and she pulled me down, down to her seaweed bed,
and a pillow made of a tortoise shell she placed beneath my head,
She fed me shrimp and caviar upon a silver dish,
From her head to her waist it was just my taste, but the rest of her was a fish!
‘Cuz her hair was green as seaweed,
her skin was blue and pale,
her face it was a work of art, I loved that girl with all my heart!
But I only liked the upper part,
I did not like the tail.
And then one day she swam away so I sang to the clams and the whales,
“Oh how I miss her seaweed hair, and the silver shine of her scales,”
Then her sister, she swam buy and set my heart a whirl,
‘Cuz her upper part was an ugly fish, but the bottom part was a girl!
‘Cuz her hair was green as seaweed,
her skin was blue and pale,
her legs they are a work of art, I love that girl with all my heart!
And I don’t give a damn ‘bout the upper part,
cuz that’s how I get my tail!

Gotta love the Newfs :P

Hey-ho, it's Turkey Day
Sunday will be good.
Monday will be good.
Tuesday, this will be me:

Welcome to the loooooong weekend!!
Okay, I know most of the time I complain about the monkeys with desk-jobs they have running administration and scheduling at Carleton, but there is one unique day a year in which the stars align, the hamsters start spinning in their little wheels and by the hand of a power greater than any known on earth, they do something right.
That day is University Day.
Don't get me started on the Alanis Morrisette-like irony of not having school on University Day, but other than that I must say it has become one of my favourite "holidays" of the year.
First of all, it's always on a Friday. Can't go wrong there. Second, at Carleton it's always the Friday before Thanksgiving weekend, making a three-day weekend, four. Again, genius. And finally the BEST part of all: unless you're one of those anal-retentive university students who marks down every single date on the academic calendar the second it hits the net, you never see it coming. It's like this bundle of happiness that springs out of nowhere a few days before it happens and just makes your day, your week, and most definitely your extra-long weekend. :D
Ok, so I'm in a good mood today. But really, why shouldn't I be? I've got an extra day off, Stephy's coming home from TO for the weekend, and besides the unfortunate side-effect of having family present, I get to eat a big fat turkey.
We won't get into the politically-incorrectness of celebrating a holiday which basically symbolises the successful opression and domination of our country's first nations. There's pumpkin pie involved, I'm thankful for that and that alone.
mmmm...pie.
Time to change things up a bit!
Thought it was time for a new look...it's the only thing I have that's inexpensive to redecorate every once and while, so I figured I'd give it a shot.
I'm not sure about it yet though...I saved the other template in a word file in case I change my mind.
We shall see.
